MACP is continually offering memberships on standing committees.  Committee charges appear below.  The charges seek to define the role of each committee. Some committees will have a small number of members while other committees (and their subcommittees) will have open-ended membership.

Awards & Citations

The Awards and Citations Committee exists to review, evaluate and then to select awards for individuals who have acted above and beyond as described by the various awards offered by the MACP.  For the most part these awards are given to law enforcement officers however citizens who come to the aid of a law enforcement officer may be eligible as well.

Environmental Crimes

The existence and overall goal of the committee is to address the lack of understanding by police officers to the issues of environmental crime.
The committee is pursuing the following:

  • The possible inclusion of one hour of MLEOTC certified, mandated pre-service training on environmental crimes in the MLEOTC core curriculum. The possible reduction of HAZMAT training from four hours to three hours could accomplish this task.
  • The development and presentation of programs on environmental crimes at the MACP conferences.
  • The development of information for a police "card" or "flyer" on how to respond to the discovery of environmental crimes. This information (and more) may be inserted in a future dedicated issue of the Michigan Police Chiefs Magazine on environmental crime.
