Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Livonia, Bob Stevenson joined the Livonia Police Department as a cadet in 1974. Promoted to Police Officer in 1978 he rose through the ranks serving as a Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and was promoted to Chief in May of 2004. Bob retired from the Livonia Police Department on October 4, 2011 with over 37 years of police experience to join the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police as Executive Director.
In addition to his extensive law enforcement experience Bob attended Schoolcraft College where he earned an Associate degree (year) and a Bachelor of Science degree (year) from the University of Madonna. He also holds a Master of Science degree (year) in Criminal Justice from the University of Detroit/Mercy. In 19— he graduated from Northwestern University School of Police Staff and command. Bob has taught for Schoolcraft College, Oakland Community College, and is currently an adjunct professor for the University of Madonna.
Throughout his career Bob has been active in professional organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, the Board of Directors and past President of the Wayne County Association of Chiefs of Police and the Southeastern Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police. He has also served on the advisory board committee for Michigan Municipal Risk Management Association, Crime Stoppers, and the Western Wayne County Regional Police Academy.
