Police Chief, Village of Blissfield, MI

Village of Blissfield, Michigan, population 3,340.  Seeking community-minded Police Chief.  Current Chief of 11 years retiring.  5 full-time officers, including 1 Chief and 1 Sergeant, and 1 part-time officer.  Police budget $482,000.  Chief reports to Village Administrator. 

Duties include patrolling, administration, supervision, budgeting, planning, training, coordinating and directing activities of a full-service department.  Will work from newly renovated facility.  Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice or related field required.  Seven (7) years law enforcement experience required, with substantial supervisory experience preferred.  Must be MCOLES certified, and have a valid driver’s license.  Strong oral and written communications skills, and ability to work with the public, other jurisdictions, and community organizations a must.  Must be computer-literate, pass physical exam, drug test and personal, professional, and criminal background checks.  Salary DoQ plus benefits.
