Born in Ironwood, MI. but raised in Wisconsin Tom Hendrickson attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree (1967) and a Juris Doctor degree (1970) from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He also holds a Master of Science degree (1980) in Police Administration from Michigan State University. He began his professional career as an Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Prosecution Unit (Organized Crime) with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (1970-72). He later became the Lansing, MI Police Department's first Police Legal Advisor (1973-1974). He served four years in the Washington, D.C. area as Supervising Attorney and Assistant Director of the Legal Division for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (1974-1978). He began employment with the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police as their first Executive Director in November of 1978 and continues to serve in that capacity. In 2003 he was awarded the MACP Presidential Citation which recognizes the work he has done for the association.
