POLICE OFFICERS HURON POTAWATOMI POLICE DEPARTMENT The Huron Potawatomi Police Department, a new Tribal police department in the process of formation, is seeking career-oriented, creative professionals to serve as Police Officers. The Department will serve the Pine Creek Reservation near Athens, Michigan, as well as other tribally owned lands and the FireKeepers Casino near Battle Creek. The Huron Potawatomi Police Department is a full service police agency and members will be required to maintain MCOLES certification, as well as maintaining a federal law enforcement commission from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. At this time resumes are being sought from interested individuals with the goal of establishing an eligibility list for hire within the next few months. Minimum requirements include MCOLES certification and an Associate’s degree, a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of sworn police officer experience are preferred. DETECTIVE HURON POTAWATOMI POLICE DEPARTMENT The Huron Potawatomi Police Department, a new Tribal police department in the process of formation, is seeking a career-oriented, creative professional to serve as Detective. The Department will serve the Pine Creek Reservation near Athens, Michigan, as well as other tribally owned lands and the FireKeepers Casino near Battle Creek. The Huron Potawatomi Police Department is a full service police agency and members will be required to maintain MCOLES certification, as well as maintaining a federal law enforcement commission from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. At this time resumes are being sought from interested individuals with the goal of establishing an eligibility list for hire within the next few months. The Detective will be responsible for the investigation of crimes occurring both on and off of Trust lands in areas under the jurisdiction of the Department. Applicants must possess MCOLES certification and have a minimum of 10 years of investigative experience; having handled cases in Tribal, State and Federal courts is highly desirable. The Detective will be expected to have considerable demonstrable experience in criminal investigations. Applicants should possess at a minimum 2 years of college from an accredited institution. A Bachelor’s degree or above is preferred, as is attendance at a School of Police Staff and Command, or comparable management training. Specialized investigative training is also highly desirable. POLICE LIEUTENANT HURON POTAWATOMI POLICE DEPARTMENT The Huron Potawatomi Police Department, a new Tribal police department in the process of formation, is seeking a career-oriented, creative professional to serve as Lieutenant. The Huron Potawatomi Police Department is a full service police agency and members will be required to maintain MCOLES certification, as well as maintaining a federal law enforcement commission from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The Lieutenant will serve as second in command of the department and will assist the Chief of Police in the administration and command of the Department, overseeing sergeants, detectives, and police officers. Applicants must possess MCOLES certification and have a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience, at least 10 of which should be at a level of Lieutenant or above (in Departments serving populations of less than 100,000), or Sergeant or above (in Departments serving populations of 100,000 plus). The Lieutenant will be expected to have demonstrable experience in labor relations, scheduling, field command, budgeting and purchasing. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s year degree from an accredited institution. Desirable qualifications include the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy, a recognized School of Police Staff and Command, and similar executive training programs. CAMPUS SAFETY OFFICER I WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT Posting Date: March 9, 2009 Reports to: District Director, Campus Safety Grade/Level: Non Union ($15.00 per hour) Applications will be accepted until position is filled Summary of Duties: Campus Safety Officers perform specialized safety/security activities including enforcement of college regulations, vehicular and foot patrol on college property. Under the direction of the shift supervisor, conducts preliminary investigations (gather evidence and obtain witnesses information, and submit written reports), answer calls and complaints and provide assistance to students, faculty, and staff, including assisting with jump starting vehicles. Personal escorts, provides directions/information, lock/unlock classroom doors, and perform other related duties as assigned. Issue parking violations and enforce the college’s parking procedures. Observes and reports unsafe equipment or areas on the campus. Assist in communication/control center, monitoring CCTV, alarm system, access control, taking student ID cards, and assist with all other dispatch/communication duties as needed. Officers may also assist law enforcement officers in the performance of their legal duties, including the investigation and apprehension of suspects in criminal matters. Performs other work-related duties as requested. Education: Previous graduation from an accredited Police Training Academy or a P. A. 330 accredited academy, and received a Police Officer training program, including receiving instruction on Use of Force policy. Bachelor degree in criminal justice or related field preferred. Experience: Previous Law Enforcement experience with a MCOLES Police agency or equivalent experience with a P.A. 330 certified Police Agency.
