DIRECTOR of CRIMINAL JUSTICE TRAINING
GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
The School of Criminal Justice at Grand Valley State University invites applications for the position of Director of Criminal Justice Training (Anticipated starting date of January 1, 2009).
Position: Administrative Professional.
Applicants must have a master’s or juris doctor degree. Additionally, applicants must have seven years work experience in law enforcement, a working knowledge of Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) policy and procedures and curriculum requirements as well as experience in personnel management and supervision. The demonstrated ability in budget development and control, the ability to communicate orally and in writing, and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and diverse community groups, and the possession of adequate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are also required.
Responsibilities include providing leadership in the strategic planning and administration of the police academy, assuring compliance with the MCOLES and Grand Valley State University (GVSU) policies, practices, and procedures; serving as the liaison between GVSU, MCOLES, West Michigan Criminal Justice Training Consortium and west Michigan law enforcement agencies; developing, coordinating, scheduling, and staffing grants and in-service training; facilitating the Criminal Justice Advisory Board, and performing other duties as assigned by the School of Criminal Justice Director, which may include various teaching responsibilities.
The School of Criminal Justice, a leader in criminal justice education and training in the state of Michigan, is located at the Pew Campus in downtown Grand Rapids, just blocks away from the County Justice Center, police headquarters, and a thriving business district. Grand Rapids, the second largest city in Michigan, is the business, legal, and cultural center for Western Michigan and is located just three hours from Chicago and Detroit and only thirty minutes from Lake Michigan.

PRESIDENT, TRAFFIC IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION (TIA)
The Traffic Improvement Association (TIA) will have an opening for President in late 2008.
TIA is a non-profit (501 c 3), public-private corporation providing traffic safety services for over 40 years to its stakeholders. (See TIA web page for history and services)
The position of President reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the daily operation of TIA that includes; visionary programs, fund raising, implementation of traffic safety programs, budgeting, personnel, etc. The President is the official spokesperson for the organization to all of its local, state and national stakeholders making formal and informal presentations to a variety of traffic safety agencies.
