Mott Community College (MCC) is conducting a national search for its next Chief of the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Proudly situated in Flint, Michigan, MCC provides exceptional educational opportunities to more than 10,000 students. The Chief of the Department of Public Safety reports to the college President and is responsible for leading, managing, and administering the DPS with a budget of $2.8 million. Comprised of 32 sworn officers and staff, the DPS is a full-service, accredited law enforcement agency. DPS officers serve MCC’s main campus, four extension centers, and a one-mile radius around the main campus that includes the Flint Cultural Center. The department also oversees MCC’s Health and Medical Services Office and the Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy (LERTA). Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in police administration or related field and 10 years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, public safety, security and crime prevention. Three years of supervisory or management experience is required, as is licensing with the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. The incumbent must reside in the MCC district within six months of hire. The salary range is $90,000 - $98,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
